This Prestige Edition borrows design elements from its pricier siblings, offering a unique aesthetic and potential performance enhancements. The star of the show is the Santos Gloss finish, a 12-layer paint and lacquer inspired by the 805 D3 Prestige Edition's rosewood elegance. This finish is confirmed by a distinctive rear plate, setting it apart from the standard 707 S3 model.
But it's not just about the gloss. Bowers & Wilkins has also incorporated optimizations from the 705 S3 Signature, including an upgraded tweeter grille mesh and speaker terminals, claiming enhanced resolution and soundstage. The core drivers remain the same as the regular 707 S3, featuring a 25mm Carbon Dome tweeter and 130mm Continuum mid-bass unit, housed in the familiar curved-baffle cabinet.
The standard 707 S3 has a price tag of around €1200, making the Prestige Edition a €550 premium for the finish upgrade and Signature-derived parts. Whether these changes deliver audible improvements remains to be heard, as the true test lies in the listener's ears.
